Day of surgery... The last photo remaining of my profile
I didn't do my hair or put on any makeup because I was about to get surgery and looked particularly ugly because of my jaw...
I went to the clinic at 9am in the morning, changed out of my clothes and washed my face, then went into the OR and laid down on the operating table. One of the nurses confirmed it was me, then a friendly anesthesiologist in glasses came into chat with me and started counting down from 10... I can only remember him getting down to 8. Then when I opened my eyes, the surgery was already over!!

The morning after surgery, the surgeon came in to see me and told me that the surgery went well, which was quite a relief to hear. I wasn't in pain to the extent it didn't seem like I had even had surgery even though it had only been a day. But my mouth felt uncomfortable, then the dressing on my face felt uncomfortable, which was when it sunk in that I had just had major surgery. I wanted to talk but couldn't as my mouth was fixed and I was hungry but couldn't eat...I don't know how I got through the first day but it went by pretty fast.
 

This is a photo 2 days after surgery. I thought I would be really swollen but there wasn't that much swelling. This is my profile but can you already see the difference? It hurts slightly with the stinging but that got better once the nurse gave me a painkiller. I thought this extent was bearable. I could only drink liquids from now on, so I drank a lot of pumpkin soup and soy milk for the swelling.
 

I went home after I was discharged and my family was astonished that my chin wasn't protruding anymore! This was when I thought I should've done this sooner... But I also thought this was because I did it now at this hospital. The swelling wasn't very severe either.
 

I went back to the hospital 1 week after to get laser treatment for the swelling. The nurse told me that my swelling has gone down faster than most. This was when I started putting on makeup :)
I had to wear a wafer, making it hard to open my mouth so it had been uncomfortable to talk or even drink water up until now.
 

I returned after my 2-wk follow-up. I practiced trying to open my mouth to fit 2 fingers as instructed by my surgeon. I've also started eating soft foods.
 

One month after surgery!
You can really see my face has changed from a month ago. I think I've gotten much prettier both from the front and side.
It felt like a nuisance sometimes but I went in to the hospital diligently for swelling care. It was a difficult battle with the swelling for the past month but they say it takes time to heal and I really think all the swelling has disappeared now that it's been a month.
I no longer need the wafer after a month, so it's so much more comfortable than before. I think it could've been all the pumpkin soup and hot/cold pack alternately in turn but the slight swelling went away quickly.
I really like that I now have a V-line but with the accu lifting getting rid of my double chin, there is little concern about sagging skin after facial contouring or double jaw surgery.


Now that it's been 2 months, all the slight swelling has started to go away. The malocclusion from the jutting chin I had before surgery made it inconvenient to eat. Now that it's been about 2 months, the range of food I can now have has widened. I can chew food well and it feels like I'm digesting well too.
There's obviously the outer appearance but I'm so happy with the functional effect as a result. My personality has become way brighter and I think I have more self-confidence, which makes me think more over time that it was a great move getting surgery.
 

It's now been 3 months!
All of the swelling is completely gone now~! People around me have been saying it looks really natural and this has somehow given me a boost of self-confidence that I think selfies turn out well in whichever direction I take them. (Different way I see myself now??)
What's important now is getting the sensation back...Even a few weeks ago, it felt tingly when I touched my face but the sensation in my lips and chin has really gotten better and I can feel myself touching my skin. I think the feeling has returned for me as fast as the average patient but on Chuldochung (an online cafe specialized for double jaw surgery and orthodontic treatment), I have seen a lot of reviews after facial contouring or double jaw surgery saying that the sensation has worsened :(
It's definitely sunk in after my surgery that I got it done at a hospital known for bone surgery. There were no side effects and I'm so pleased that I've been naturally enhanced like the people in the before/after photos.
Surgery involving the bones is not a simple matter but something major, so if you were to get surgery on impulse because of an event offering discounted prices, your liable to suffer from side effects. I think I made the right choice getting my surgery done by a famous, representative surgeon at a place that ensures safety even if you have to pay a little more.
For someone receiving surgery, you can't entrust your face to someone whose skill level hasn't been verified...
Which is why I think I set the bar at surgeons being SNU graduates.

Recapping my reasons for selecting this hospital to wrap up, the surgeon and orthodontist both being SNU graduates who have collaborated together for over 19 years really felt legit. I also liked that it felt less burdensome being told I only needed lower jaw surgery when I had been considering double jaw surgery all along. Suggesting the right surgery for me putting emphasis on safety and the surgeon being extremely famous made me feel assured. I also liked that the head surgeon was the one performing my surgery. More than anything though, I like that my original face was made prettier naturally like in the before/after photos on their homepage.
