Review after successful lower jaw surgery at Faceline Plastic Surgery Clinic
Events from before lower jaw surgery to 3 months after

This post is to share the successful outcome of my lower jaw surgery with whoever is interested :)
 
I had always lacked confidence in my profile because of my jutting chin and avoided getting photos of my side view.
I only took selfies from the front but even from the front, it still couldn't hide my chin looking protruded :( Even camera apps couldn't get rid of the jutting shape, being something that can only be fixed surgically. I couldn't do anything about my mouth looking unnaturally shaped even with photoshop. Having to keep editing photos on apps everytime gave me a reality check and I decided to get plastic surgery wanting change my appearance and end this.
 
I decided on bone surgery to get prettier but healthwise as well because I had pronunciation issues on top of a complex with my appearance.
I meet a lot of people through work, so I pay a lot of attention to my looks. And I don't have a proper bite because of my jutting chin, which makes eating itself quite problematic :(
I had contemplated and looked into this for a really long~~ time before finally deciding to get surgery. My parents were initially really worried as well but they caved in and let me do this because I was desperately dying to do it. People consider bone surgery to become more attractive but there are also people like me who do it because of a jutting chin. People like me only know too well how uncomfortable it can be :(
 
I searched several hospitals known for double jaw surgery and looked at a ton of websites. I got to thinking that it's the surgeon who will actually be performing the surgery and so it's got to be important how skilled the surgeon is. So I started searching for top surgeons, looking for SNU (Seoul National University) graduates. I may seem materialistic but in honest truth, everyone wants to go to a large university hospital rather than a small neighbourhood clinic when we're sick. SNU is the most reputable university in Korea.

I had already looked into various surgical methods and research work of surgeons, so I wanted to consult with them on the right surgery for my face, how much my face would change, things like that.
 
The next thing I looked at was before & after surgery photos.
I narrowed it down to places that had a lot of cases of patients becoming beautiful yet still remain natural looking in the photos before/after double jaw surgery on their websites.
At the end of all that, I decided on a hospital that had before/after photos that were just the style I wanted and had a highly renowned surgeon.

The surgeon being an SNU graduate, which was what I was looking for, the hospital being an educational establishment affiliated with SNU medical school was what really caught my eye! And for double jaw surgery, orthodontic treatment is essential but here, the fact that the surgeons and orthodontist were all SNU grads and have been collaborating together for over 19 years at the same hospital made the place more credible.
 
I got there a little early for my consultation appointment. They took my x-ray straight away and I had my consult at the time I was booked. I asked briefly about post-care and when surgery was possible, things like that, then went to consult with the surgeon.
I recommend putting aside plenty of time because it takes a while to consult with the consultant and take an x-ray. The surgeon told me that double jaw surgery would be ideal in my case but that I would see effect with just lower jaw surgery moving the lower jaw back. He said, “I think double jaw surgery would align both the upper and lower jaw attractively and make you more naturally beautiful," but that I could get the results I wanted just with lower jaw surgery alone. I've been told at other hospitals that I had to get double jaw surgery! But here, the surgeon being so frank with me made me trust him even more. It felt less burdensome that my jutting chin could be resolved just by tucking the lower jaw back.
 
I actually thought that the upper and lower jaw both required surgery for a jutting chin but it was the first time I realized I could just do the lower jaw, so I brooded over it some more. I think those with jutting chin like me who found surgery burdensome would all sympathize but I decided just to do the lower jaw! I'm so completely satisfied with the result that I think I made the right choice just getting lower jaw surgery.
 
I was also recommended to get facial contouring surgery to create a V-line, which would make me prettier. My jutting chin was always a complex but I always really wanted my face to have a V-line even when only taking photos from the front so I decided to get facial contouring as well! I also decided to get a procedure called 'accu lifting' to get rid of my double chin.

The surgery my surgeon recommended was less burdensome than double jaw surgery recommended at other hospitals (what I initially thought I needed), so this shortened the recovery period. And because I also got facial contouring, it had the benefit of improving the jutting chin which was a complex for me while at the same time creating a natural V-line.

As long as I had contemplated this, it was also difficult to reach a decision:( It was my face we're talking about so I wanted to decide cautiously and I went back to the surgeon to ask about other things. After looking into this and thinking it over for the longest time, I decided to get surgery here. I booked the date of my surgery as well as with the orthodontist and I'm just now waiting in anticipation for the day of surgery~
 
My account of deciding on the hospital before surgery was quite long, wasn't it?? It's now the long-awaited day of surgery!
I fasted for 12 hours as instructed by my consultant. I'm starving but I wasn't allowed to even drink water before general anesthesia...
