G Clinic Arm and Abdominal Liposuction
Hi,
I did arm and abdominal liposuction yesterday. As a background, I weight 50.7kg on the day, 160cm and I work out 3-5 days a week with 3 days of weight lifting (following Bret Contreras programme) and 1 day of HIIT and 1 day of LISS. Cardio are more of if I have energy. I would say I eat healthy, I have protein for lunch (no carbs) as I found carbs reduce my afternoon productivity and a normal serving of rice/ pasta in the evening (60g dry weight).
I didn't think I have a lot of fat but I can't help but feel like those two areas need help. If I lose anymore weight naturally, my chest will be flatter than my current A cup and nothing else would change. It also doesn't help that my arms look proportionally bigger than my chest.
My appointment was at 3.30pm but I arrived around 3pm and was seen at 3.30pm by the doctor. Before that, I had an inbody scan which showed my fat to be 24%.
I will edit the name of my doctor in the comment. He spoke English but not fluently. However, we had no issue understanding each other (but I asked him to take as much fat as he could and he laughed. Not sure if that was him not understanding my request or he thought I was being ridiculous). When we looked at my body, it was good to know that the areas I was concerned about e.g. love handles, upper and lower abdomen, inner and outer arms were the ones he pointed out needed help with only me squeezing general area of fat. LOL.
After the consultation you make payment and they lead you to changing room. Once you've changed, they would lead you to another room to take pictures and scan your body. The doctor mentioned that I have about 1cm of fat on my abdomen, slightly more around love handles and 2cm on my arms. He would also explain the process (which I was well aware off after all the research I did).
Once done, you wait (as they prepare the surgery room). The nurse then spread iodine (I think) all over my body - stomach, breast, arms, hand and back. I was also left naked for few minutes which was a little uncomfortable because of the cold, nervousness and being naked.
Then the doctor comes in, and i felt a small needles pain ( which I think was for numbing) and he then injected the solution to assist in melting fat. This part was not painful at all for me but uncomfortable. Imagine someone taped up the inside of your body and then push a rod inside to separate them. When he was done, he left the room for 5-10 minutes to let the solution work its magic. When he returned, it was liposuction time. No pain during this time either except when he accidentally poked my ribs. It felt like a needle stabbing me but the pain didn't last long and it was a one-time thing.
I then had to lie on my stomach for arm liposuction and repeat the whole process above again.
Once done, the nurses came in to clean me and squeezed out the liquid. They then bandaged me really tightly and I was then allowed to go to changing room to change to my normal clothes.
I went up to 7th floor and they gave me my prescription. The receptionist couldn't speak English but she was helpful and translated everything using an app. She helped me find a place to get compression garment (which I didn't know I needed and wasn't prepared for.) I was out of the clinic by 6pm.
Then off to the pharmacy to buy all the supplies. Here, I would suggest buying more sterile strips than you think you need, gauze and tape. I went through about 2/3 of them in one evening because I was leaking so much.
I started leaking at this point and my sweater was drenched on one arm. So I went back to the hotel to change. I think I spent about 30 mins squeezing liquids from my arms before replacing everything. I also added a sanitary pad which I saw was recommended by everyone. The hotel room was a mess because the liquid was all over the floor. I cleaned it up and noticed my gauze and pads were soaked again. So I repeated the whole process of squeezing and replacing bandages. At this point, my stomach was completely fine. Also, no pain on squeezing the solution out.
I went to get some food about 20 mins away from the hotel and noticed that my trousers was soaking wet and so was my arms. So I rushed back after getting food to do everything above again. After dinner, the same thing happened so the whole thing was repeated. I changed my gauze and sanitary pad 4 times within the 4 hour period.
I wasn't too sure about sleeping but the hotel has dark bathrobe and I placed my dirty sweater on the bed to lie on them. I didn't want to dirty the towels more than I already had. I woke up around 5am to my sanitary pads on my stomach being wet so I replaced it. No leaking on the bed which was good.
The next day, I had another appointment at 9.30am so I woke up at 8am to make time for changing everything and also clean the hotel room. I noticed one of my arms was not leaking anymore when I tried to squeeze it but another arm was leaking. My stomach was still leaking too but nothing gauze and pad couldn't handle. I packed everything I need to replace them for going out. It's worth noting that I ran out of Sterile strips and tape this morning so I need to get more.
Pain wise, I'm completely fine. I would equate it to soreness after trying a new workout programme rather than when you first start working out. It's more like 2/10. No bruising on my arms so far, just a small 3cm thick line on my abs. But those leaking solution, Olivia warned me, I saw a lot of YouTube videos on them and I was still not prepared for it.
P.s. the total liquid sectioned out was about 1.7l (fat+ solution combined).
