G Clinic Arm and Abdominal Liposuction Week 1
It's been over a week since I had this done and the recovery has been better than expected. Besides the initial first night of leakage (which was a nightmare but everyone gave me plenty of warning), the last few days were better than expected.
I haven't told anyone that I had liposuction done so my experience is based on me recovering without any assistance.
For purpose of the review, Day 0 is the surgery day and Day 1 is the day after surgery.
Day 1 - I had a little bit of leakage on all 4 incision sites in the morning but nothing a gauze and maxi pad couldn't handle. I used a cling wrap to secure the maxi pad in place as well as to avoid getting my clothes wet. I changed my gauzes and sterile strips 4 times that day with twice in the morning, once during lunch and once before bed. By evening, the leakage was almost done with the last gauze change not really required. I changed any way just for a peace of mind. I had to buy 2 more packets of gauze and 2 packets of sterile strips as I ran out of them.
You're allowed to shower on this day as long as you have waterproof plasters on the incision sites. The advice is for the sterile strip and waterproof bandage to be on for at least a week to heal beautifully.
Pain wise, it was great. I was still numb from the solution and was able to walk, take public transport, get a hair cut and facial in Gangnam that day.
Also, I had some bruises on the upper abdominal area.
Day 2 - 3 - I had an early morning flight to Jeju on day 2. Getting up from the bed was painful and it felt as if my skin or muscle would tear apart from just moving. However, that didn't stop me from spending all day exploring the island.
I changed the wound dressing once a day, before bed just to check on the incision sites and make sure they look alright. My pelvic area started to bruise which I was expecting.
I also love wearing a compression garment. It feels so supportive, like wearing a good sports bra for a run. Without it, I could feel my stomach and arms just jiggling with every movement. The doctor told me to wear it about an hour a day but I ended up wearing it about 22 hours a day, only taking it off for shower.
Day 4 - 6 - this is when it got better. No leakage so I don't have to change the sterile strip every day. The pain level was tolerable. There were instances when I could feel some tightness especially when I lifted my arms above my head. Most of the time, the pain level was tolerable - it felt like I did a lot of crunches and bicep curls.
I started just gently massaging the liposuction area with my hands. I saw a lot of videos mentioning that lymphatic massage is needed the day after surgery but given this wasn't something the doctor mentioned, I just did my own massage. There was no lump, just general hardness.
My compression garment felt a little looser so I added in lipo board for the abdomen. I still like wearing it throughout the day for that secured feeling. There was a day when I didn't wear it for 5 hours when it was being washed and dried and my stomach expanded and it was rock hard.
I'm going to keep using the sterile strip and waterproof bandage for another week.
My life was pretty much normal by this point with the exception of gym. I was told that I can do some light exercise after one week so I may start with body weight workouts and gradually progress back to where I was.
Conclusion:
I don't think I look like I lost a lot of weight or had liposuction in the latest update. However, I went in with the expectation that I won't have dramatic result until the swelling is gone because chances are the fat taken out from my body would be replaced by the swelling. Also because no one knew about the surgery, I am glad that the result will be gradual as it wouldn't be noticeable to people around me.
I am looking forward to the one month update and hopefully, those 11 lines will start to show up!
Feel free to ask me any questions.
