Today was procedure day at G Clinic. I was nervous going in, mostly because I didn’t really know what to expect, but that feeling passed pretty quickly once I arrived. The clinic felt calm and simple, and everything moved in a really low-stress way, which helped a lot. Dr. Hong came in and explained the procedure clearly in English, including what would happen and the possible side effects. The nurses and staff spoke to me in Korean. I speak some Korean, so I think that’s why they communicated with me that way. I’m not sure if they speak English or not, but it felt natural and comfortable. Everything felt organized and not rushed. They took before photos, marked the areas, and had me put my things in a locker before moving into the procedure room. In the room, they cleaned the areas with a yellow antiseptic solution, and then Dr. Hong started with local anesthesia. The first injections felt like sharp pinches, not unbearable, but definitely uncomfortable. I caught myself squeezing my hand and digging my nails in a little just to redirect the feeling. What helped a lot was that Dr. Hong kept talking the entire time. He asked about my life, shared stories, and kept conversation going, which made it much easier to stay relaxed and not focus on what was happening. Since it was done under local anesthesia, I was fully aware that he was the one performing the procedure, which honestly made me feel safer. There was no sense of being handed off to someone else. A towel was placed over my face so I couldn’t see anything, which I was actually really grateful for because I think watching it would’ve made me more anxious. The procedure itself went faster than I expected. From arrival to leaving, I was at the clinic for about two hours total, and the actual procedure felt like around an hour or less. At the end, they showed me how much fat had been removed, and it was honestly shocking to see one full tube. Seeing it made everything feel very real. After Dr. Hong left, they bandaged everything and explained how to care for the areas at home. They used a lot of padding and gauze, which looked kind of ridiculous at first. When I stood up and got dressed, I genuinely looked like I was wearing a diaper and couldn’t help but laugh a little. But on the way home, I understood why: fluid started leaking, and the padding was actually necessary. By the time I got home, the bandages were soaked. I removed them as instructed, cleaned and sterilized the areas, and replaced everything with fresh gauze. The leaking is real, and now it makes sense why they tell you to wear dark, loose clothing. Black clothes are honestly the best option. I wore grayish pants and definitely wished I’d chosen black instead. Physically, the pain isn’t sharp; it feels more like deep soreness and tenderness. Walking was slower and a bit uncomfortable, but manageable. Tight clothing around treated areas makes things worse, so very loose clothes are important. I ended up not wearing a bra on the way home because of discomfort around the arm area, and I’m glad I didn’t. They also give you a prescription at the end, which you pick up separately at a pharmacy. It includes antibiotics, pain medication for a few days, and supplies for wound care. That cost isn’t included in the procedure price. Overall, the experience felt really positive. Calm environment, clear communication, and a doctor who made the process feel human instead of clinical. Right now it mostly just feels sore, not painful. Even on day one, I can already see small changes, especially in the lower abdomen area, which looks smoother with less indentation. When bending, there’s already a noticeable difference in how the area folds. I plan to track progress weekly instead of just relying on before-and-after photos. Healing and results don’t happen instantly, and I think seeing the changes over time gives a more honest picture of what the process actually looks like.
