Day 0 – Procedure Experience at G Clinic
Day 0 was the day of my procedure. After changing into the clinic attire, Dr. Hong used a machine to check the fat layers before marking the treatment areas on my arms.
Since I’m quite scared of pain, I asked Dr. Hong how painful the local anesthesia and procedure would be. He reassured me that it would be “easy” compared to the abdomen and he was right!
Step-by-Step Procedure
1. Cleaning – The staff applied a solution (likely iodine) to disinfect the treatment area.
2. Covering – A cloth was placed around my neck so I couldn’t see the procedure, since I was awake.
3. Local Anesthesia – Dr. Hong injected the anesthesia. For me, the pain was about 6/10.
4. Numbing Solution – He then pumped in a numbing solution. This part was uncomfortable, as it felt like bloating and heaviness in the treatment area. There was pressure, but I could still move my fingers (though it’s best to stay still!) haha I was just curious.
5. Ultra G Fat – Dr. Hong performed the ultrasound step to melt the fat. I couldn’t see the device, but he explained it helps the suction in the next step to reach closer to the skin and muscle with less damage with lesser bruising.
6. Suction – By this stage, I was numb, so I couldn’t distinguish much between the numbing, ultrasound, and suction steps.
7. Tender Spots – Occasionally, certain areas felt more tender when the rods moved, but the discomfort was brief. Please sound out if you feel pain, as for me, it was mostly discomfort.
8. Checking Results – For arms, Dr. Hong moved my arm above my head and beside my body to check that the fat was removed evenly.
9. Final Step – The staff squeezed out the remaining solution with a cloth. This helps minimize leaks afterward. This is where I hope the staff squeeze out as much as possible. For my abdomen procedure (done in the past), I had heavy leakage from the incisions. After getting my meds, I was leaking already!! But for arms (current procedure), there was almost none, even on the way back to my accommodation.
Things to Note
* Wear loose clothing, as the gauze is quite large. I did both sessions in winter, so my coat helped cover everything.
* Bring pads, pee pads, and cling wrap to manage leaks. Pads can be wrapped around the treated area, and pee pads are great for sleeping! To me, these are a must have to prevent the leaks!
* Dr. Hong mentioned compression garments weren’t necessary for me, but they can help with swelling.
Arms(current) vs. Abdomen(past) procedure
The difference between arms and abdomen on procedure day was huge.
Please note that this is my experience and it is different for everyone 😊
* Abdomen: More fat removed, so recovery was tougher. Sitting, bending, and walking were uncomfortable, though manageable.
* Arms: Much easier. I expected not to lift my arms overhead, but I could!
I also had minimal bruising on Day 0, which was a pleasant surprise. I did read up some reviews saying that bruising will come in the next few days. Let’s see how it goes!
The swelling is kicking in and I will update a one week progress ~
Final Thoughts after procedure.
It was absolutely worth doing the procedure. I’m very happy I chose Dr. Hong as he has extensive experience, never rushed me into treatment, and always gave thoughtful advice while letting me decide.
