Double Eyelid Surgery+Rhinoplasty+BA
Hi everyone!
At last, it has been exactly 1 month since my plastic surgery! I would like to share my plastic surgery experience with you. So those who are interested in going under the knife will have more honest reviews to refer to in order to make a more informed decision.
Disclaimer:
This review is not in any way sponsored. Please do your own research. I would recommend selecting a few clinics for consultations before making a final decision.
Anyway, I had recently undergone a series of plastic surgery procedures at Marble Plastic Surgery.
The procedures are as follow ~
Double Eyelid Surgery: Upper Blepharoplasty, Epicanthoplasty, Lateral Canthoplasty & Ptosis Correction.
+
Rhinoplasty: Nasal Bridge Augmentation (with Silicone implant), Nasal Tip Plasty (usage of Ear Cartilage & Septal Cartilage).
+
Breast Augmentation (285cc Sebbin implants)
Backstory (You may skip this part):
For the past 11 years, I had always been very self-conscious of my looks. As a young teenager, I often struggled with low self image and confidence. I still remember that my coursemates, friends and family would diss and criticise on my looks. It was until I had met my ex-boyfriend that it hit home hard. It completely crashed my self worth and confidence. “You have the looks of some girl whom most guys will never date.” That was exactly what he said. From that moment, I had become extremely conscious how others view me. Besides, I was just that ordinary chubby next-door girl. Since young, I had been told by countless people to lose weight. “You will look prettier if you lose some weight.” they said. Honestly, it gave me a glimpse of hope that maybe I could transform into a Chio Bu (Pretty Girl) after losing some weight. Unfortunately, the weight loss came with a price of SSB (aka Sagging Small Breasts). I came from a full B cup to a demoralizing A cup. So yeah, those were the reasons why I chose to have plastic surgery done.
So back to my plastic surgery journey.
Clinic’s First Impression:
I had booked consultations with 6 different clinics at least 2-3 weeks prior to departure for South Korea. My last consultation was with Marble Plastic Surgery. Marble PS is a standalone clinic occupying 2 floors (Basement & 3rd floor) of a building just a stone’s throw away from Gangnam Station (approx. 5 mins walk). My first impression of Marble was the angelic atmosphere and ridiculously neat environment. The colour theme of the clinic from the walls, furnitures and even the staffs are Blue, White and Black. One word to describe the interior and the staffs “Professional.” I honestly thought I was in a hotel lobby. LOL. Anyway, I was warmly greeted by their English translator, Min. She is a very nice and hospitable young lady who speaks fluent English. In my opinion, she is one of the best English clinic translators I have met with a good command of English.
F2F Consultations:
I had consultations with 2 doctors consecutively. The 2 doctors are eye specialist Dr Suh Yong Hoon and director Dr Seo Il Beom. First consultation for my eyes was with Dr Suh. My first impression of him is that he is a soft-spoken and honest man. He seemed very professional and knowledgeable. Like most doctors, he began the consultation by asking me about my concerns with regards to my eyes. I had told him I would like to achieve big dolly eyes with high eyelid creases. After close inspection on my eyes, he had recommended incisional upper blepharoplasty with ptosis correction, epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty. As a typical Asian, I had small eyes with excess skin and fats on my heavy monolids. Dr Suh advised me against having high eyelid creases as it would cause my eyes to appear puffy and sausage-looking. ^Besides, it is also very difficult to lower the eyelid creases after incisional DES.^ (^ This was the one piece of advice he gave that stood out from the other doctors)
Next consultation was with Dr Seo Il Beom who is the director of the hospital. He was the primary reason why I went for consultation at Marble in the first place. I have gotten to know him during my intensive PS research online. There were also a couple of good reviews of him on PurseForum. My first impression of him is that he is a wise and reputable man. Like Dr Suh, he also seemed very professional and knowledgeable. He began the consultation by asking about my concerns with regards to my nose. I had told him I detest my flat nose bridge and wide alar base. And I would like to achieve a sharper and more defined nose with high nose bridge and decent sharp nasal tip. After close inspection on my nose, he recommended nasal bridge augmentation with 3.5-4mm silicone implant and nasal tip plasty using ear and septal cartilages as support for the tip. He had explained that in case should my septal cartilage were not enough, he would use a donor’s cartilage as replacement. Apart from that, I still vividly remembered him pinching and pulling the tip of my nose to visualise and check the elasticity of my nose tip. This was one action that he did which the other rhinoplasty doctors I had met failed to do so. Next, he moved on to examine my breasts. He had asked me my brand preference for breast implants. And I told him I prefer Sebbin or Mentor implants due to the softness. He had recommended 265-300cc implants. Final implant sizes will depend on how much my breasts can stretch after inflating them with a “pump” during surgery. He had also explained to me what is the ideal position to place the implants in the breasts. He had done so by drawing outlines on a photo of my breasts on the computer and projecting on the wall to help me visualise. This was also an extra point which the other BA doctors I had consulted with did not explain.
The whole consultation process took around 2 hours. The doctors took their time to explain to me what can and cannot be achieved for my case. In my opinion, experience and knowledge are the most important factors to decide on your doctor. Both Dr Suh and Dr Seo had met my expectations. As both doctors possessed many years of experiences and knowledge. They had also addressed my concerns perfectly and answered all my questions professionally.
After consultation, I was escorted to the changing room to change and brought to a consultation room to discuss about the estimated prices of the procedures. My English translator, Min, had jotted down and explained to me the prices of each procedure on a piece of paper. I shall not disclose the prices over here as prices may vary for each patient. As for me, the prices were considered resonable and affordable. Moreover, it was also the cheapest amongst all the clinics I had consulted with. After much consideration, I had decided to proceed with my surgeries with Marble.
Surgery Day (8th April):
I had to report for my surgery at 09:30am sharp. Once I had reached the clinic, I was then brought into the changing room to change into my surgery robe. After changing, I was escorted to the consultation room for a final consultations with the doctors. Both doctors reviewed and summarised what they had said during the first consultation and had drawn outlines on my eyes, nose and breasts for surgery. Before surgery, I had signed the consent forms to provide consent in order to proceed for surgery. I still remembered feeling very anxious when I was lying on the operating table. My first surgery was my eyes. Before proceeding with the surgery, Dr Suh reviewed and finalised on the outlines he had drawn on my eyes. After which, I was sedated with local anaesthesia. The whole surgery took around 2 hours. I can still remember every detail of the surgery till this day. From the pinching of the muscles for ptosis correction to the smelling of burnt flesh in order to make the necessary incisions on the eyes. Personally, the most excruciatingly painful part was the ptosis correction. I would rate that 8/10 for pain. For the first time in my life I was in pain but I was too high to even care. Other than that, the rest of the procedures were a breeze. As I was under general anaesthesia, I felt zero pain for rhinoplasty and breasts augmentation. The next thing I remembered was the slaps on my right arm and a distinct voice calling me to wake up. Then I was escorted to the recovery room where I had vomited numerous times due to nauseousness. I had stayed in the recovery room for more than 3 hours. By the time I had left the clinic, it was well past their closing time. Luckily, Min was with me throughout the whole journey. She even escorted me out and ordered a taxi for me. I was very grateful towards her as I had no one else to accompany me during my trip.
Recovery process:
First few days of the recovery was tough and I had to sleep vertically upright to ensure that I do not accidentally sleep on the side of my face which would destruct the structure of my new nose. I also had to sleep upright due to the fact I had BA. Besides, I was advised by Dr Seo and clinic staffs not to manoeuvre my upper body too much as my breasts were still recovering. Luckily, I felt better and was out and about on Day 4 post-op. Honestly, I was so bored at the accommodation that I had decided to head out to buy KFC. Thankfully, most of my swelling had subsided after the first week. On day 7, I had visited the clinic to remove the stitches out from my eyes and nose. There was just some slight discomfort from the removal of stitches and it was not painful at all. On day 10, I went to the clinic again to remove the stitches under my breasts. Finally, I was able to look at my new face after the removal of stitches. I was so pleased with the results. I definitely look so much better than I was before. Before surgery, I was a 3/10. Now, I can safely claim that I am probably a 7/10. Plastic surgery really drastically changed my appearance for the better. It has tremendously improved my self confidence.
I really am thankful for the doctors and staffs at Marble for transforming me into a prettier lady.
