Hi 👋🏻😄 I wanted to talk about my first rhinoplasty. I had my first rhinoplasty (nose job) back on February 11 2021. I had my surgery at JK Medical Group in Apgujeong, Seoul. The surgery costed about 8.5 million won (8,500,000) and that included an overnight hospital stay with food and all treatments and follow ups for following year (lasers, and stitch/cast removing) it did not include the cost of prescribed medication.

I had my first rhinoplasty because I wanted to make some small changes to my nose like making it more narrow, remove the hump and make the tip smaller. I chose JK because I heard they had a lot of experience with foreigners but this was my first time having plastic surgery so I didn’t really know what I was supposed to be looking for or what questions I should ask. So I didn’t really do a lot of research. It was a scary decision though because I felt like I didn’t know a whole lot about the hospital or my doctor but I really liked how the hospital was really fancy and clean and the consultants could speak English so this made me feel more comfortable.

The first photo I posted was a side by side photo of my before and after surgery. Photo 2&3 are before surgery. Photo 4 is the morning after surgery with cast and bandages. Photo 5 was one week after surgery after the cast and stitches were removed. I still had a lot of bruising and swelling that I tried to cover with makeup. Photo 6 is 1 month after surgery. Photo 7 was 6 months after surgery. Photo 8&9 were one year after surgery. Photo 10 is one year after surgery showing my deviation (it healed crooked 😔)

I had a later surgery time so I had to stay overnight at the hospital. They gave me medicine and meals to eat like porridge. The next morning I was okay to go home by myself. The first week was the most difficult because I had a cast and a lot of bruising and swelling. I couldn’t eat spicy food, blow my nose, or wear glasses for a whole month. I also had to wear an ice pack over my face for a long portion of the day for the first 3 days to try to reduce swelling. Taking the cast and stitches off we’re so painful. I cried a little but the nurses held my hand and gave me a teddy bear to squeeze 😂 that part was comforting. I could go back to normal living after one month and I was so happy! The doctor says it takes up to 6 months to a year for all of the swelling to go down and see the final result.

Unfortunately after one year I had some problems breathing and some pain in the tip of my nose so I went back to the doctor for my one year check up and he mentioned that my nose healed in a crooked way. He said it was like healing in a spiral. I’m not sure why it did this. Anyways we had to do a second surgery to fix it. I told him I really liked the shape of my nose so I didn’t want to change the outside so he only changed the inside to help my breathe better.
