Plastic Surgeries and Body Positive Movement
Hey Mei Lovers💗
I planned to make a post regarding topic that was staying in my head for a very long time, which undeniably, is pretty controversial.
I am a type of person that from an early age has been struggling with self confidence. It all began from the first class of elementary school, after realizing that I look a little bit different from other folks. I spent a lot of money on therapists to build my self-esteem after entering an adulthood, just to get myself, at least partly, out of school bulling drama.
Also I am a type of person that cares about appearance quite a lot. As I said before, I try to keep my mental in the best condition, my self esteem for now is pretty high and I feel confident with my looks. Even though I am confident with the way I look and looked, I decided to correct my imperfections with art of the plastic surgery. Was a way to feel better with myself? Can be. Was a way to fix myself? Absolutely not. Plastic surgery will never help with your self confidence, because that’s something which stays in your head. Of course after fixing some imperfections, we can feel way much more comfortable with ourselves, but in my opinion, our self esteem should never based on our appearances.
I’m quite active on social media, and I always been open about my plastic surgery journey. I want to break the “plastic surgery” taboo, and make people realize that fixing our imperfections is absolutely fine, and it shouldn’t be a thing that we have to deny doing or be afraid of getting. I’ve received a lot of comments about that if I support plastic surgeries, I am automatically becoming against body positive. And… for the fact I always loved my body. I loved the way it was curved before, and after losing 15kgs and liposuction, I still love it the same way. Why did I lose weight and get plastic surgery? Well, I have my own beauty canon that somehow I’m trying to achieve. I support all of the bodies and appearances, no matter if it’s after procedure correction, losing weight journey or pregnancy.
That’s why my concern is coming from. Do you think plastic surgeries can’t go along with body positive movement? Do you think both of these values are contradictory to each other?
I wish people could understand that plastic surgeries are a tool that everyone can use, and as every field can be exceeded. I don’t think that overdoing plastic surgeries to become an another person from original is a good thing. Becoming better version of yourself is good, not becoming another version of yourself. What do you think?
