Three clinics, three diagnoses for my jawline
I sent the same jawline photos to three Korean clinics and received three completely different explanations of the problem.
Clinic A says I have submental fat and need chin liposuction.
Clinic B says I do not have much fat and should do a lifting device plus platysma b*tox.
Clinic C says devices will be a waste of money because the main problem is loose skin and neck muscle laxity. They suggested a neck lift.
That is a remarkably wide range, from lunchtime treatment to surgery.
For context:
* 43
* weight stable for years
* no previous facial surgery
* jawline looks decent from the front
* side profile has a soft angle
* skin under the chin creases when I look down
* chin itself may be slightly recessed
I do not expect an accurate diagnosis from two photographs. But every clinic sounded completely certain, which is the part I dislike.
I have started asking a different question:
What part of my concern will your recommended treatment not fix?
The answers are more useful.
The lifting clinic admitted the result would be subtle. The liposuction clinic said loose skin might remain. The surgery clinic said the scar and recovery were the trade-off.
That was the first time the consultations started sounding realistic.
Any other questions that force clinics to explain limitations rather than benefits?
