MINE Plastic Surgery's Response to False Accusations by 'iamv***'
Hello Community,
This is Katie from MINE plastic surgery.
You may have seen the 9 reviews written by
‘iamv***’.
We would like to clear up a few claims and
false accusations given this opportunity.
Though we are a part of a business, I have felt joy when our clients were able
to realize their full beauty potential, and if there were any issues, I tried
my best to follow up with my clients to the best of my responsibilities and
abilities.
1) Surgery Results
There are many false accusations within the 9 reviews, but I want to focus on
some of the key claims that this reviewer had written.
1. Rhinoplasty
Pictures can look very different depending on lighting and angle, but for the sake of objectivity, medical hospitals use similar angles and lighting for before and after pictures of clients.
From
our hospital before/after pictures, you can see improvement. However, the
deviation of the nose is based on the overall bone structure of the face, so
there are limits to fixing nose deviations with just rhinoplasty.
2. Signs of photo manipulation
The pictures below are pictures that the reviewer had directly uploaded to his
reviews. One of them he uploaded in his rhinoplasty review and the
other was a photo he uploaded in his Vlimming review.
If you
compare the after pictures from the two reviews, you can find that they are
from the same photo. The beard, lighting angle, lips, and all parts of the face
are exactly the same.
If you
expand the picture and look at the nose tip, you can see that there are clear
signs of photo manipulation. The left picture is from his rhinoplasty review
and the right picture is from his Vlimming review. You can see that there is a
stronger bend of the nose in the picture on the left. This shows signs of photo
manipulation for the purpose of creating a false accusation.
3.
Facial Contouring
After our clinic completed the bone reduction surgery, we had sent the CT scans
of the before and after pictures to the reviewer. Because we took the before
and after pictures a couple weeks after surgery there are still signs of
swelling. However, if we look at the CT scans there is an improvement.
The client wanted a stronger v-line, So we
did mandibular reduction and genioplasty.
He had gotten double jaw surgery previously
at a different clinic in 2021. There were pins and screw along his jawline and
on his chin. We did facial contouring and removed the bone right up to beneath
the pins and screws because it is not surgically possible to cut beyond them. (Our
hospital does not do double jaw surgery)

Follow-up
However, when disagreements arose and I tried explaining to the reviewer about what was possible and what was not, trying to bridge the gap of understanding felt beyond my limits. I’ve been working here for the last 8 years, and this was the first time I experienced this much difficulty in client communication. So, the hospital and I decided to settle things with a third party and contacted the Korea Consumer Agency (KCA). The KCA stated that in order to mediate this issue, both parties should be in Korea or have spokespeople in Korea. Our client was already out of Korea at that time, so I asked the KCA if we could find a good English-speaking spokesperson that could represent the reviewer. However, the KCA responded back saying that the hospital cannot appoint a spokesperson for the reviewer as that would be a conflict of interest. Because of this, we contacted ** Insurance. The manager from ** insurance contacted the reviewer. The manager directly called the reviewer, and the manager got the reviewer's email during this call. The manager sent a follow-up email and text message to the reviewer after the call. However, the insurance manager at ** Insurance said that he did not receive a response.

Overall thoughts
I believe that if clients face medical issues, our hospital should do our best
to follow up with the clients and communicate with them. I have met a wide variety
of clients from all over the world. It was meaningful helping clients and being
part of a responsible hospital. I have always valued open communication and
transparency with clients. However, communication is a two-way street. He had
called us an ‘evil hospital’ and ‘rats’. Not only that he included false
accusations and also had photo manipulation. For the last couple of days, I was
struggling with how to respond.
The reviewer said that social media is a weapon that is shown worldwide. But I believe
that there is common sense and wisdom in this community. Thanks for taking your time to read this long
response.
