So, last year, on March 2nd, 2023, I headed over to Ruby for a rhinoplasty. A friend recommended the clinic, and I ended up with Dr. Hu Jung Woo as my surgeon. His English wasn't great, so we had a translator during our chat. I didn’t get too specific about the nose I wanted, just mentioned I wanted it smaller and to fit my face. They used some fancy silicone stuff on my nose bridge, and even cadaver rib cartilage for the tip. They also did some tissue work around the tip and even removed some old fillers I had. Cost me about 10 grand in USD, mainly because of that cadaver stuff, I think. Medication wasn't included, so I had to grab it from the pharmacy downstairs. The surgery took about an hour and a half. When I got to the operating room, the nurses seemed pretty rushed. One was shaving my nostrils – not the most pleasant experience, let me tell you. Waking up after surgery was a trip; felt like they pulled a whole circus out of my mouth, and my head got tossed around a bit. Dr. Hu really made me squirm when he put that nose cast on. After surgery, they laid me down in a room, slapped on a cooling eye mask, and my mouth felt drier than the Sahara. Eating was a hassle with all the cotton in my nose. Next day, an older nurse changed my dressing and gave me some antibiotics, and Dr. Hu popped in for a checkup. I was expecting some fancy light therapy, but I only got it once. The nurse said no to it after that. Three months later, one nostril looked bigger from the swelling, and my nose bridge was numb. At six months, feeling started coming back, and my sense of smell improved. But by eight months, my septum looked off, and Dr. Hu never mentioned anything about it. It's been over a year now, and my nostril's still wonky, and my septum's slightly crooked. I've come to terms with it, but if things get worse, I might consider another go. Moral of the story? Be ready for surprises after surgery, and don't always trust those before-and-after pics. And oh, avoid fillers if you can – they can lead to more trouble than they're worth.
