Two months after my double jaw surgery at Face Dental.
It’s been about two months since my surgery, and my recovery has progressed significantly. The swelling has gone down a lot, and I’m now wearing my retainers for less time each day. Going out and resuming my daily activities has become much easier.
I’ve started jaw-opening exercises as part of my recovery. My progress has been slower than expected, and by the end of the first month, I could only open my mouth about one finger’s width. I’m a little worried, but my doctor told me it’s normal at the beginning. Now, I practice for 10 minutes two to three times a day, where I open my mouth as wide as possible, hold for 10 seconds, and then close. By the second month, my jaw-opening distance increased to two fingers, that’s not bad! Which allowed me to eat more normally without having to cut food into small pieces. I also want to mention that the incisions inside the mouth may take two to three months to fully heal. Some areas can form small gaps where food residues tend to get trapped, which regular brushing might not completely clean. I highly recommend using a water flosser—it has been extremely helpful for me.
Lastly, I’ve regained some feeling in my upper and lower jaws, and things are gradually improving. However, recovery takes time, and patience is key!
