Hi everyone, I’m here to share my experience as an Asian foreigner wanting breast implants. A little history on myself, I have wanted breast implants for the last 20 years, but figured I would wait until some generations of implants to pass first. As I am now in my mid-30s with the plethora of science to back breast implants, I started to seriously consider breast augmentation. I originally was planning to do the surgery in Canada and paid for many consultations. I was going to go with a non-Asian plastic surgeon who had a huge list of accreditation and who I bonded best with. However, in the end, I decided to take time off and fly to S. Korea to achieve the look I wanted - natural. I came to realize that the North American standard of breast implants wasn’t the look I wanted to acheive and Motiva implants aren’t available. I also felt that a Korean surgeon may know Asian skin types better as well and would be doing breast surgery more often than they would have in Canada. I got in contact with Olivia who got in contact with View Plastic Surgery who is known globally for their plastic surgery. I showed her photos of my current state and what I hoped to achieve. She was confident View could achieve this look. Though it was challenging at first to confirm an appointment that would work best for both the clinic and I, it worked out in the end and I am happy we made it. I arrived on Monday, had a consultation on Tuesday and had surgery on Wednesday. I am staying in Korea for 2.5 weeks and I hope I can enlighten and answer any questions you may have if you’re flying as far as I have. During the initial consultation, I met with Dr. Kim Ji Min. She was very professional and was reassuring in what I needed to get the results I wanted. I asked her what her opinion is between Mentor and Motiva implants and she agreed Motiva would be best suited for me with my skin and body type which was great because from someone with a Science educational background, Motiva was my top choice because it showed to have less post-op complications. You’ll hear that the number one complain women have is they “didn’t go bigger”. Dr. Kim Ji Min initially suggested a size which would make me look “natural” as I originally told her, however, after trying on a size larger, I REALLY liked them and she agreed the larger size would look quite nice with a genuine smile. We agreed to “size up” and to remove my side armpit fat. What I’ve learned in life is that you have to entrust specialists in their recommendations… yes it’s an added cost, but there’s a reason why they would suggest it. In my case, it may bulge out more after getting the implants placed and it would look weird. Anyway, I’ll be here to help out anyone else that was in the same boat as me. Stay tuned.
