Surgery day has come!

I met with Dr. Kim Ji Min and she’s as confident and gentle as ever! We do more precise drawings on the body, confirm the sizing and any other questions I have before walking into the surgery. I’m pretty stoked to get started! People asked me if I’m nervous about the procedure, I think I was more excited than nervous, albeit it is my first surgery ever.

As a few hours later, I get admitted to the surgery room. I lay on the table and next minute the anesthesiologist comes in and I look at him and within seconds, I am out. Talk about an efficient anesthesiologist. When I woke up, all I remember is my amazing translator being by my side the entire way.

View is EXCEPTIONALLY clean and organized. The team constantly communicates with each other, from checking-in, arriving on different floors, doctors - managers - translators; insanely impressive!

The bed is remarkedly clean and comforable. I almost fell asleep multiple times because of how comfortable everything was, but I was informed that I could not to avoid nausea from the anesthesia. I’d have to say… not eating or drinking for more than 16 hours was the toughest for me. My doctor friends in Canada were impressed how strict they were with the no sleeping or drinking water post surgery policy to ensure a speedy recovery for patients.

I’ve attached what I looked like right after surgery with the bandages just for fun. Pro-tip: I brought baggy (boyfriend) dress shirts and the way the team wrapped the dressing made it look like I was wearing a tank top.

I was able to walk back to my hotel A-OK after the 4 hour mark with no pain or side effects from the general anesthesia.
